In the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Georgetown in Penang, Malaysia, our President, Mark Evidente, was privileged to be part of a select group of conservation practitioners from across Southeast Asia to train with the Getty Conservation Institute to understand the technical and professional approach to conservation, and learn from the lessons that experts used in the world heritage application of Georgetown to UNESCO. We worked in both classroom and field settings, and carried out exercises on an actual site in the city, researching and understanding its significance, and recommending interventions to emphasize that significance...
And of course, we got the chance to explore many other sites in the city, and enjoy great food!
